2009 DRUG PLAN HIGHLIGHTS

Here is the 2009 design for Part D Prescription Drug Plans:

Initial Deductible:  from $275 in 2008 to $295 in 2009

Initial Coverage Limit:  from $2,510 in 2008 to $2,700 in 2009

Out-of-Pocket Threshold:  from $4,050 in 2008 to $4,350 in 2009

This means that you will have to purchase $2,700 worth of medications in 2009 BEFORE you hit the “dreaded donut hole”.  That is almost $200 more than last year, so that is a good thing.  But of course the out of pocket has gone up that much as well.  So, we shall take the good with the bad!

I will have more details as I get them for you.  Just remember, when you begin 2009’s coverage on January 1st, please use my tips on staying out of the “dreaded donut hole” longer!  Buy your generics OFF YOUR DRUG PLAN.  This will leave more money in the pot to pay for your more expensive meds.  You can use Wal-mart’s list of over 300 generic drugs they sell for $4 for a 30 day supply, or go to a large retailer of your choice and see what kind of savings they offer on generics.  I will send you Wal-Mart’s list if you email me and request a copy!

The AEP is right around the corner.  Can you beleive that?

I have always wondered why they did it at the end of the year at the Holiday and Christmas season, like we don’t have anything else to do during such a hectic time with family gatherings and such.  At least the election will be over!!

We will have the comparisons up for you beginning Nov. 15th, so you can get this off your schedule and go about your Christmas shopping and cooking your Thanksgiving turkeys!
