Save the Most on Your Drugs As Possible by Applying for Medicare Part D Limited Income Subsidy

Since we are now in the Annual Election Period for Medicare Part D, October 15 to December 7th, it is very important to make sure that you have applied for any Part D subsidy programs.  If you have previously been on the subsidy program you need to re-apply each year to make sure you continue to receive extra help.

If your income is low enough to qualify or you wish to check, please contact your local Social Security Office.  You can call or visit them.  Tell them that you wish to apply for the Medicare Part D Limited Income Subsidy Program.  If you do not use those exact words, many times, they will not help you, or act as though they don’t know what you are talking about.  This is a special program that helps people with lower incomes and those on disabilities afford their medications.  Don’t be ashamed or afraid to check!  These programs are in place to help you!

After you apply, SS will send you a letter letting you know how much extra help you have qualified for and you must immediately call your Part D provider to get their fax number or directions on how to get them a copy of this letter.  They have to get it in order to begin your benefits!  Then you will need to re-apply each year before the Annual Election Period.
