Complaints About Drug Plans

You should be receiving a letter from your drug plan by Oct. 31st detailing any changes in your plan for 2008.I

f you do not recieve this letter, you need to call and ask why you have not received it. You may need to make a complaint. There are other reasons you may have through the year to have a grievence about your plan. If you don’t get satisfaction from your drug plan when you call or write them, it may be necessary to contact 1-800-MEDICARE or 1-800-633-4227.

You must file a complaint within 60 calendar days of the date the event that led to your grievence took place.

If your plan won’t cover a drug that you need, you can request a coverage determination or an appeal from your plan. This should include a letter from your doctor asking them to cover this drug for you, why you need the drug etc…If your plan still declines to cover the prescription for you there are other steps you can take by calling Medicare.
