Have You Received A Disenrollment Request Letter From Your 2007 Medicare Part D Drug Plan?

We have been getting numerous reports from people getting letters from their 2007 Part D drug plan, telling them that if they don’t want to keep their plan, they must send in a letter of disenrollment before November 15th.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND ANY LETTER IN TO DISENROLL FROM YOUR PART D PLAN. WHEN YOU OR IF YOU DECIDE TO CHANGE YOUR PLAN AND YOU ENROLL ON ANOTHER MEDICARE PART D PLAN IN THE AEP OR ANNUAL ELECTION PERIOD, MEDICARE WILL AUTOMATICALLY CANCEL YOUR 2007 DRUG PLAN.

Medicare will cancel your 2007 plan and you will be enrolled on the new selection for 2008.

Do not let these letters confuse you. That is why we have an AEP, so that you have from November 15th to December 31st to make up your mind on which drug plan you feel is best for you in 2008!!

It is a shame that some drug plan companies want to futher confuse people on enrollment and disenrollment procedures. If you have further questions about this or any other Part D enrollment concern, you can always reach me toll-free at 866-752-1795.

DO YOU TAKE TOO MANY MEDICATIONS?

Since we began doing comparisons of Medicare Part D plans beginning in 2005, I have seen hundreds of lists of medications that people are taking. Sometimes I see up to 20 different prescriptions for one person. I am NOT a Doctor and I don’t even play one on TV, but sometimes I wonder if people are taking too many meds.

One of the best drug saving tips I can think of is to make sure that all of the prescriptions you take are really necessary. ASK YOUR DOCTOR! Make sure that you tell each doctor if you see more than one, every drug you are taking.

Don’t be shy to ask your doctor if you are on the medication that is the least expensive for your illness. Many times there are meds that could save you money.

I know we all see the very expensive advertising campaigns from the pharmaceutical companies. Guess who is paying for this?? YOU, the consumer. There are many new designer medications out there that cost double of what another medicine for the same illness would cost you.

Remember, you are the boss of you! If you have questions or concerns about your medication, be sure you make sure with your Doctor that they are making a difference in your illness and are truly necessary for you to live life to its fullest.

Are YEARLY Cost Estimates of Part D Drug Plans Accurate?

Many people are calling us with yearly estimates of the cost of a particular Part D Plan.

My Part D USA only gives you a monthly total of co-pays and your premium. WHY?

The main thing you need to worry about is saving the most possible BEFORE you hit the “donut hole” on your premium and co-pays.

When you hit the “donut hole” you need to act like you don’t have a drug plan! WHAT? I said, you need to act like you don’t have a drug plan.

Yes, you must continue to pay the monthly premium, because if you don’t you’ll have a penalty added to your premium the next year you join. When you hit the dreaded “donut hole” and you know you will never reach the other side to the catastrophic coverage, you MUST SHOP ANYWHERE WITHOUT USING YOUR DRUG CARD.

These yearly totals add in the retail costs that your drug plan charges for that particular drug plan. They do this to make up for their loses while you were paying co-pays.

Yearly totals are deceiving when you take into account that you won’t have to pay such high prices if you shop around and compare prices during the “donut hole”!!

At My Part D we are looking out for YOU! We will help you save the most money on your co-pays and premiums. When you reach the “donut hole” it is up to YOU to find the lowest retail prices anywhere you can find them, without using your drug plan card!

The government is saving you 75% on the first $2, 510 worth of your medication. We must make the most of this benefit until it improves.

If you would like more help understanding this please call toll free 866-752-1795 or fill out out a worksheet at www.MyPartDusa.com

Please BEWARE Of Medicare Advantage Plans!

I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, yet again, but please be careful if someone is trying to sell you a Medicare Advantage Plan!! I talk to so many people everyday that are not aware of the differences between what they now have, a Traditional Medicare Supplement and the new Medicare Advange Plans.

You must be informed of what you are getting yourself into. Please read my other blogs about Medicare Advantage Plans. It is a whole new ballgame! Your doctor may not accept the terms of this plan. You will lose your choices about your doctors, hospitals and sometimes pharmacy. They are NOT better than Original Medicare. If you can afford your premium on your Traditional Supplement you are better off keeping that coverage.

There are people who can use an Advantage Plan and I have outlined this on other blogs.

It may sound good to have a lower premium and sometimes not a premium at all, but you need to understand that Medicare Advantage Plans do not work like your Traditional Supplement. There are many more hoops to jump through.

Please read my other blogs on Medicare Advantage Plans for the whole story!

How Is My Part D USA Able To Give FREE Comparisons?

My Part D USA is an alternate resource for Medicare Part D Plan enrollments and can compare every NATIONAL Part D Drug Plan for you at no charge. How can we do that? Can we be objective and un-biased in our recommdations?

No matter which drug plan you choose we get the same fee from the Drug Company you select! These are YOUR choices for the drug plan you find that is best for you. That is how we keep the websites up and running and how we are able to assist you. We do not get outside funding or contributions.

We can also help you enroll with Social Security for low income “extra help” programs and make sure your drugs are covered at no premium.

We can also talk to you about every plan in every state. However, we are only licensed and certified to help you enroll on National Plans. Our comparison will only bring up National plans for you to see.

If you find that a state specific plan is better for you, or you need to speak to a State Health Insurance Program counselor, please refer to the blog below to call your local office. There are some State Assistance Programs for low-income that may help you pay for some of the expenses of your Part D Plan.

My Part D USA was founded on the principle that Seniors need a better way to make an informed decision regarding their Medicare benefits!! We want you to KNOW AND UNDERSTAND your coverage, before you enroll.

If I Qualified for the Part D “EXTRA HELP” Program, Will I Have It Again Next Year?

“Extra Help” is the federal program that helps pay for most of the costs of the Medicare Part D Plans. If you qualify you will not have a premium, your co-pays will be between $1 and $5 each and you will NOT have “donut hole”.

At the end of each year, Social Security conducts a process called “redetermination”. They look at your income and assets to see if you will qualify again for the next year. They will send you a letter that YOU MUST return to them within 30 days. If you do not return this letter called “Review of Your Eligibility”, Medicare will assume that you no longer qualify for the “extra help” and your assistance will end December 31st.

If you have recieved this letter and not responded, please call or visit your local SS office today!!

We can also get you on a plan that covers all your drugs with no premium. Go to www.MyPartDusa.com and fill out a worksheet, tell us your situation in the comments section and one of our licensed and certified Senior Consultants will call you back.
