Testimony for My Part D USA

This just in………….

I have just found the most wonderful service for choosing a Part D program for Medicare recipients. This happened because my current drug plan is not covering the standard treatment for Asthma…and after fighting with one of their reps, I thought I was consigned to going to the Medicare site and going through every existing program.

But when you go to Medicare there is a link to a group called My Part D USA.

They are a free service and the founder has created a software program that allows you to compare the formulary by drug, as well as the monthly premium and co-pays and gives you the best program for your specific medications.

They will be up and running live online with the 2008 formulary by next Tuesday. If you want more information call Donna toll free at 866-752-1795.

Do I Need A Traditional MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT?

46 Million and counting….

Over 46 million Americans are already enrolled and receiving benefits through Medicare. Because Medicare does not pay for all health care services, only 80%, you have the option of buying a Medigap policy (Medicare Supplement) to cover the gaps or the other 20%. Medicare Supplements are offered by private insurance companies.

All supplement plans are the same from each company and regulated by Medicare. The only difference is, some companies will charge you a HIGHER premium than other companies, you could find yourself paying double the premium someone else is paying for the exact same benefits!

This is where My Part D USA can help! We will shop the marketplace in your state and find the lowest priced plan with a reputable company.

You should never own more than one Medicare Supplement. If you decide to change supplements, DO NOT CANCEL until you are approved on the new plan.

When you retire and need a Medigap policy, there is an open enrollment period of 6 months. This means the insurance company cannot turn you down NO MATTER WHAT! They cannot refuse to write you a policy because of your medical history or claims, nor can they charge you more because of your health problems. THAT IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIND THE BEST POLICY WITH THE LOWEST PRICES IN CASE YOU DEVELOP HEALTH ISSUES IN THE FUTURE!

My Part D USA can guide you though this important time, making sure you get the best for less!

There are many things to consider when choosing a plan:

1.Does your Doctor take assignment? This means that Medicare has a set price for certain procedures and most doctors accept that amount for payment. If you doctor does not take assignment, you can choose another doctor or choose a plan that will cover the additional expense your doctor will charge.

2. Do you want to keep , and be able to choose your own doctor? Or, can you accept changing your doctor or hospital because they are not on the list of a Medicare Advantage Plan? When you decide against a Traditional Medicare Supplement and choose a Medicare Advantage Plan, (refer to the other blogs on the left side of the home page on MAP’s) you will lose the ability to pick your Doctor or Hospitals, and sometimes even your pharmacy. The Doctors and Hospitals must agree to accept the terms of payment from the MAP, and the doctor can refuse to accept it at any time.

With a Traditional Supplement you can see any doctor or hospital in any state and know your benefits will cover you.

3.Will you be needing the Foreign Travel Benefit? If you will be doing trips abroad during your retirement, it may be necessary to include this in your Medicare Supplement.

When you shop for your new or replacement Supplement these are just a few of the important things to remember. My Part D USA will take all this into consideration when we recommend the best plan for you.

Please fill out the worksheet or call us at 866-752-1795 to get started!

DON’T BE FOOLED!!!! DOUBLE CHECK ANY INFORMATION YOU RECEIVE!

I just got word from a person in South Carolina that called one of the largest providers of Part D Plans. He found out that his premium for 2008 has more than doubled and wanted to change plans. GET THIS!!! He was told that in order to change plans he had to send them a LETTER OF DISENROLLMENT BY NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 15TH.

It is amazing to me that these large companies would give out such false information.

THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO DO TO CHANGE YOUR PLAN IS ENROLL ON ANOTHER ONE! MEDICARE WILL AUTOMATICALLY DISENROLL YOU FROM YOUR 2007 PLAN.

That is why Medicare gives you 6 weeks to make your decision for 2008!

The company is making people think that after November 15th their choices are over. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!

Take your time and get your comparison before you feel rushed into staying with the plan you had in 2007.

CAREGIVERS NEED HELP WHEN SELECTING PART D PLANS

Are you a caregiver for your parent or family member with Medicare benefits? Caregiving is often the hardest and most heartbreaking task you will ever be faced with. Most people don’t know how to help you or empathize with you, until they experience it themselves. The person you are taking care of is in the middle of trying to save their own life or coming to terms with their life ending as they have always know it, and they cannot worry about you either. Understanding this is key to not taking their outbursts personally.

Not only do caregivers take on the role as nurse, scheduling doctor appointments, maintaining prescriptions and giving medications, bathing, feeding and moving someone who cannot get around alone; they must also deal with the emotional ramifications of role transference and the anger and frustration of the sick individual. Sometimes this could be a spouse, such as was my case, and more recently a mother.

My first advice is to take time to take care of YOUR needs. Do not feel guilty for attending to your life, even though it is difficult to do so. If you don’t take time to care for yourself, you will not be able to care for anyone else.

There are many home services that will come and sit with them, or enlist the help of a family member or neighbor. Just DO IT! Go out with your friends or to a movie and get away for awhile. It helps to remember that you have a life to live as well.

With all of these issues on your mind, it is even more overwhelming to understand all the Medicare benefits that must be decided upon.

This time of year we talk to many children whose parents are living with them, or they are in a nursing home. We can reduce the time it would take you to search online for a drug plan. If you send us a list of their medications, we can get a comparison ready for you to select the plan that would cover all their meds at the lowest co-pays and premiums.

If you are in this situation, ask your case worker if there are support groups in your area for caregivers. Just knowing that someone else understands what you are going through can make all the difference.

DONUT HOLE COVERAGE FOR 2008

As we have mentioned before, there will be no National Drug Plan available in 2008 that will cover brand name drugs during the dreaded “donut hole”!

However, there will be plans that cover GENERICS during the “donut hole”.

You must pay attention to how the drug plan intends to cover them, because the quality of coverage will be different on each plan.

The are using the terms….

ALL GENERICS - all generics on their formulary

SOME GENERICS - they have a list of generics they will cover

PREFERRED GENERICS - they have a list of preferred generics they would have you use before covering any others

Before you enroll on a plan that covers generics during the “donut hole”

you need to check and see if your medications are on the list. The premiums on these plans are higher, so before you select one, make sure you can actually get your prescriptions on that plan.

When you go to our webiste, on the comparison page, we will have a box named MORE INFO, you can click on this box to see if your drugs will be covered during the “donut hole” on that particular plan you have selected.

Please don’t just assume that your medications will be covered if the plan says they will cover generics during the “donut hole”.

HELP FOR LOW INCOME MEDICARE PART D DRUG PLAN BENEFICIARIES, PASS IT ON!

IF YOU WORK WITH ANYONE THAT QUALIFIED FOR MEDICARE PART D DRUG ASSISTANCE, PLEASE TELL THEM ABOUT THIS BLOG, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE:

In January, hundreds of thousands of low income people with Medicare will learn at the pharmacy counter that they have been switched to a new Part D prescription drug plan that does NOT cover drugs that they need.

For many of these individuals, it will be deja vu, reminding them of the winter of 2006, when they were abruptly dropped form Medicaid and put on a Part D plan.

Why is this happening?

1.6 million low income people with Medicare are enrolled in a Part D plan that will charge a premium in 2008 that is too high to qualify for a full subsidy. Current law requires that these people be randomly reassigned-without regard to whether the plan covers their medicines – amoung the Part D plans with premiums low enough to qualify for a full subsidy.

I have written about this before in other blogs…please refer to them again!

It is imperative that these folks get on a Part D Plan for 2008 that they will not get kicked off of because the premium is over the coverage limit and put on a plan that may not cover thier meds.

They need a COMPARISON!! Please let them know about My Part D USA and to go to the website or all call us toll free at 866-752-1795.

It is bad enough that they are being randomly reassigned, not to mention that their drugs may not be covered.

WATCH FOR MEDICARE TOURS

You may see a Medicare Tour in your town coming soon!!!

Medicare is rolling out the buses and getting aid from the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts will be canvassing cities and neighborhoods door to door next week as part of a mission to alert senior citizens about the upcoming open enrollment of the federal Medicare prescription drug program.
